How to use these cheat codes

Each cheat code is a shortcut that tells ChatGPT exactly what kind of visual to make. Type it at the start of your message, then add your topic or upload an image.

Under each one there is a better prompt that gets you a stronger result. Copy it, fill in any [brackets] and send.

  1. 01
    Open a new chat

Start fresh so nothing from an earlier conversation bleeds into the image.

  2. 02
    Give it the raw material

For the product codes, upload a clear photo of your product first. For everything else, paste in your idea, notes or data.

  3. 03
    Lead with the code

Start your message with the quick command, or paste the better prompt underneath it.

  4. 04
    Ask for changes

New colours, fewer words, a different angle. Keep going until it looks right.

These are prompt shortcuts, not official hidden ChatGPT commands. The slash is just a quick, memorable way to tell ChatGPT what kind of visual you want. If a menu pops up when you type the slash, ignore it and keep typing.

Tips for better results

  • Got text back instead of an image? Add "Create this as an image." to the end of your prompt.
  • Check your branding. AI can subtly change logos, labels and packaging text. Compare every product shot against the real thing before you use it in an ad.
  • Keep on-image text short. AI images can still misspell words, so check every heading before you post.
  • Stack them. Combining two shortcuts, like /handwritten /mindmap, gives you a more specific style.

Common questions

  • Are these real ChatGPT commands? No. There is no hidden menu of slash commands for images. The slash is shorthand that tells ChatGPT what kind of visual you want, in a way that is quick to type and easy to remember. If a menu appears when you type it, ignore the menu and keep typing.
  • Do I need ChatGPT Plus? You need a plan with image generation. The prompts themselves are not plan specific, so anything that can make an image can run these.
  • Why did it reply with text instead of an image? It read the prompt as a question rather than a request. Add "Create this as an image." to the end and it will generate rather than describe.
  • Why did my product change? Image models rebuild what they see, so logos, label text and packaging can drift. Every product prompt here ends with an instruction to preserve the product exactly, but you still need to compare the result against the real thing before it goes into an ad.
  • Can I combine two codes? Yes, and it is usually better. Stacking narrows the style: /handwritten /mindmap gives you a hand-drawn map rather than a generic one, and /dashboard /infographic gives you numbers laid out properly rather than a plain chart.
  • Do these work in Gemini or Claude? The structure carries over, because these describe a kind of image rather than a product feature. Results differ by model, and the product photography codes are written against what ChatGPT does well.
